Overview of the event

The Blockchain Technology Conference 2018 will be happening on October 16th 2018 Auckland. The Blockchain Conference 2018 will bring together a diverse range of experts who will discuss all the opportunities, challenges and exciting possibilities in innovation and disruption that can be leveraged in Los Angeles using this technology.

National banks and regulators, exchanges and investment banks across the world are taking seriously the financial innovation of distributed ledger or block chain technology. The block chain, aka Trust Machine underpins "crypto currencies" such as Bitcoin; but it goes beyond digital money. It provides a shared, trusted, public ledger that everyone can inspect, but no single user controls. It is at the cusp of revolutionising international money transfers, trade finance, syndicated lending and collateral management, among other applications. As it allows for almost instantaneous payments and settlement, the potential impact on the role of traders, quants and other financial technologists cannot be underestimated.

The event features an inspiring day of talks and workshops by professional speakers focused on Blockchain technology and Innovation.

This conference brings together Block Chain technologists in the finance sector, regulators, industry commentators, computer science researchers and others involved in financial innovation; these experts explore some of the technology and the many applications of Block chain in Financial Services.

X Topic Abstract

Because it's so new the information you find is very technical, focusing more on features than on benefits of the software systems. For business owners or managers, this can make it difficult to assess the impact of this innovation in relation to products and services you are already familiar with. As with any paradigm-breaking technology, it is important to understand what it can and what it cannot do. Blockchain technology can be the engine for many optimisations and new services. In order to build effective solutions you need to understand how it works and set realistic expectations.

It's application is still in a relatively 'regulatory grey zone.' This creates opportunities as well as risks. Key topics (impacts) covered are: product life cycle, off-boarding, IT transformation, 'smart trust' consensus, regulatory measures, as well as creativity (innovation).

FORMAT OF TALK: What happens when the time comes to end service/change provider/sell/throw away/move on to the next new thing? I would answer this question by telling a humorous story about America (or New Zealand) with some historical accuracy, in relation to products and services you are already familiar with.

X Topic Abstract

The Digital Revolution has brought us to a threshold of a whole new world called “the Internet of Value”. Enabled by blockchain, it allows both businesses and individuals to digitally capture, democratise, securely transfer, and rightfully own the value they possess, whether it is personal data, real estate, company shares, fine art, gold, or goodwill. For one, blockchain allows start-ups to get easier access to capital. By tokenising business value and opting for the ICO crowdfunding model, companies have raised nearly US$1 billion in funds just in August 2018. This market is booming, but has its own challenges. This presentation will take you through the latest ICO trends, shed the light on winning practices, and navigate you through turmoil ahead of the rise of security token offering (STOs).

In the fast-moving world of Blockchain and ICOs, security tokens are set to bring a new wave of activity to the space. This new type of tokenisation will not only allow start-ups to raise capital in a compliant manner, it will also allow established companies to provide liquidity to previously illiquid assets using this mechanism. Asset tokenization is amongst the most exciting potential applications of blockchain technology. We will explore the different blockchain projects that companies can utilize in order to launch their tokens as well as the potential use cases with examples.

Block chain and distributed ledger technology is disrupting nearly every sector and one of these is the multi-trillion-dollar health sector. The health sector is undergoing a revolution driven by health big data. This data is being used to develop new drugs and therapies, create better models of healthcare, and inform insurance and government decisions. The amount of health data will double every 73 days by the year 2020. Meanwhile, there are growing concerns about data privacy, security, control and fair remuneration. Block chain and distributed ledger technology provide solutions to these and other issues. Already, dozens of block chain health data companies have emerged and a plethora of new ones are on the way. Let's explore how the future of health data will look in a decentralized and tokenized world.

X Topic Abstract

We are living in a world of connectivity using technology. Where people, devices, channels and mediums are connected digitally.
Data is the lifeblood of every intelligent enterprise, with the global economy depending on live and accurate information to run, the accuracy of the correct data in a blockchain environment is critical.

We are currently in 3rd wave of AI where machines have cognitive abilities of perceiving, learning, abstracting and reasoning the new set of information based on the existing data models.
Data sharing is the first benefit of blockchain for AI, but for that data, integrity is the key.

How are these 3 are connected :

Blockchain will enable an immense amount of data gathered and shared in the ledger, it will require Artificial intelligence to build models that can extract information from these data patterns and feed it into a transparent system. Few key advantages of introducing blockchain model are -
• Introducing a new model of processing data
• Increase in productivity by reducing waste of time and resources
• Real-time sharing and transparency of information

There are lots of examples of real use cases in education, government and retail sectors.
